Oracle Virtualbox Only Showing 32 Bit

You have just installed the VirtualBox and you are about to setup a new 64 bit operating system. But, from the selections – you realized that only 32 bit operating system are available and no 64 bit operating systems!

Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack. Free for personal, educational or evaluation use under the terms of the VirtualBox Personal Use and Evaluation License on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Solaris x-86 platforms. I have created a Windows 10 (64-bit) guest. I installed VirtualBox v6.0.10 in the Windows 10 guest (Windows 10 Pro – v1903 – 64-bit). I am trying to create an Ubuntu (64-bit) guest inside the Windows 10 guest. I only see 32-bit options inside the Windows guest. After several attempts to resolve this, I am still only seeing 32-bit options.

If you just select the 32 bit operating system, you will also notify that the tab of Acceleration is greyed out (under the Settings > System).

Solution

Depending on the CPU manufacturers (AMD or INTEL), you will need to activate the Intel VT-x and AMD-V virtualization hardware extensions in the BIOS level. Once done, you will able to see and select the 64 bit operating system.

Hello,
I installed a .deb package virtualbox-6.0 (amd64) from Virtualbox Linux_Downloads on Ubuntu Mate 18.04.1 Bionic 64-bit host (HP notebook) and noticed that for new Windows and Linux guests there are only 32-bit versions available. The same 32-bit guest versions only were available. Also after installing virtualbox-5.2 on the same host via Software Boutique.Bit
I have also an Ubuntu Mate 16.04 LTS 64-bit host installed earlier on an Asus notebook and an Oracle virtualbox v. 5.2.18 (r124319 Qt5.6.1) installed there which allows 64-bit Windows and Linux guests to be created. A Windows 8.1 64-bit guest was successfully created and used there.

What's the issue of only 32-bit guests available to create in amd64 vIrtualbox on Ubuntu 18.04.1 64-bit host? Is it possible to enable Virtualbox with the option for 64-bit Linux and Windows guests?
(I basically need at least a one 64-bit Windows (8 preferentially) guest).
